Three in February

Every home has different needs at different times during its lifespan. Some issues need addressing regularly while others are just a once every few years. What kind of attention would your home benefit from this February?

The offer: For a flat fee of $99* Mike will make a visit and perform 3 selected tasks from the menu below. If these don’t fit your needs, an alternate selection is to spend one hour on your personal “honey-do” list. This offer is only being made to former clients, their friends, and our followers on social media. It is available within a 25 mile radius of New Richmond, WI, beyond which, additional travel charges may apply.
So what’s your home in need of?

Menu:

1-Dryer Vent Scope: Scope your dryer vent from the outside of the home (limited to ground level) and share the results. Dryer vent lint is one cause of house fires across the US each year and therefor they should be cleaned regularly. This service is available at added cost.

2-Attic Peek: Our climate creates unique conditions in attics across the Midwest. If moist air escapes into the attic through exhaust fans the moisture condenses on the cold roof structure creating a breeding ground for mold. When is the last time you peeked in your attic? I will open your hatch and take a look with lighting and a camera to record any visible issues that may require further attention.

Attic Frost
Don’t let this happen in your attic, a hidden wintertime danger
Attic Mold
Moisture in the attic from bath fans can lead to dangerous mold.

3-Security Screws: Any idea how long the screws are that attach the latch plates to your exterior door jamb? The screws that come with the knob assembly are quite short and would prevent no one from kicking a door in. The solution is a 3″ screw which goes into the framing studs for the door. This is one of the cheapest things you can do to improve your home’s security and I will ensure you have the proper screws installed. Integrated latch plates and multiple screws take it up a notch further and those are also available to install at an additional cost.

Security
Protect your family by upgrading to an integrated strike plate.

4-Smoke Detector Batteries: It is recommended these little 9V batteries are replaced 2x per year. I will swap out your smoke detector batteries (on standard height ceilings) for your peace of mind.

5-Light Bulb Replacement: Do you have light bulbs that are kind of pesky to change and you’ve been putting it off? I’ll swap out up to 5 of those bulbs for you provided you have a correct replacement on hand (height limitations apply). I’ll just need details on any unique situations, like ceiling height or design, that need extra consideration.

Light bulb replacement
No fun having to change those bulbs at challenging heights.

6-Shut Off Valve Testing: When did you last check your shut off valves in your kitchen and bathrooms? These should turn easily in case there’s a need to turn off the water. Rarely do these get moved and can build up mineral deposits making them virtually ineffective. I will check for smooth operation and make recommendations if any seem to be failing.

Shutoff valve
Manually closing your shutoff valves from time to time helps maintain functionality.

7-Door Seal Replacement: Newer homes that have a more standardized design have what’s called a kerf seal to keep the cold out. These are often compromised over years of use or pets a little to anxious to get out. I will pull these and replace them with an aftermarket equivalent available at all home improvement stores.

8-Cabinet Hinge Adjustment: Newer homes have adjustable hinges to ensure the doors are symmetrical in the opening and close correctly. If your hinges have some adjustment features, I will make sure they are still fully functional and set correctly. If you have a broken hinge or some other functionality is compromised, I will make a recommendation on how that can be rectified. For an added cost I can order a replacement and return to install.

Hinge
Adjust hinges so doors stay aligned and operating correctly.

9-Door Hinge Lubrication: In the St. Croix Valley, almost all of us are familiar with older homes and squeaky doors! But believe it or not, even with newer homes, hinges can get squeaky. I will lubricate those hinges with a silicone product to make your nighttime ventures unnoticeable!

10-High Spider Webs: Do you have high ceilings? Even if you have standard ceilings, have you had pesky visitors make their home in the corners and those spots are just hard to reach during your normal cleaning routine? I’ll be happy to take care of that for you and at least temporarily evict your unwanted guests.

Of  course these are just some of the regular tasks every home needs from time to time. If none of these fit YOUR needs, I’ll be happy to spend up to an hour working on your personal “Honey-Do” list! Let FINELY FIX IT help take some tasks off your plate this February!

*THE FINE PRINT: $99 covers up to 3 menu items. Additional items can be added at $25/item. Does not include the cost of batteries, light bulbs, door seals or any other necessary parts, so materials are an added cost. If serious issues are discovered, I will provide a written estimate to solve the problem or make a recommendation for a specialist if necessary. Additional time on site (beyond one hour) for the “Three in February” service may be billed at $25/quarter hour and will only be necessary for unusual site conditions or additional requests.
